With the US Election Day a little more than a week away, mental care specialists across the nation are revealing a startling increase in patients arriving at clinics and hospitals seeking help in coping with stressful times. A terrifyingly large percentage of the patients seeking help blame the vitriolic election battle as the primary cause of their unendurable stress!
Patients are citing the non-stop coverage of the election on cable news outlets as well as constant bickering and fighting on social media sites as the main source of the stress and tension. Friendships, families and work environments are being torn asunder, with never-ending in-fighting and name-calling. Many patients are claiming a fear of going to public places such as restaurants, bars or even hospitals where televisions are commonplace, broadcasting the endless parade of bitterness and hate-spewing invective, causing sensitive people to have full-blown panic attacks!
Mental care specialists are especially concerned with Halloween week, as the current Creepy Clown craze goes into overdrive and the election nastiness reaches its stomach-churning conclusion. People with post-traumatic stress are particularly vulnerable and are advised to seek counseling if issues should arise. Doctors are advising people to simply turn the televisions and radios off for the next week as well as avoid spending time on social media sites if possible.
Whatever the result of the election, it's a safe bet that people are still going to need counseling and help coping for the next four years to come...
