By far my most urgent post yet, as the past 24 hours alone reads like the most outlandish script from a mega-budget Roland Emmerich disaster movie, but unfortunately for us, it is all too real. Urgent enough to bring me out of vacation mode, super-fast, to make an emergency update.
Where to start? Perhaps I should preface this by bringing up the incredible imbalance taking place at present around the globe in regards to climate. With a killer heatwave in India and snow in the Northeast US on Memorial Day, the planet is obviously on a scale that is chaotically reaching beyond its tipping point.
As I stated, the past 24 hours have truly been off-the-scale in regards to the "climate chaos" (which the public was warned about last year by the French foreign minister in an emergency conference at the State Department in Washington). In true disaster flick form, each headline from disparate regions around the globe call out for attention. Taken individually, they are alarming enough, but when added together, they paint a different and disturbing portrait.
A killer heatwave continues to grip the sub-continent of India, bringing hellish temperatures of 50° Celsius (122° F) and causing the deaths of at least 1,200 people (a count that is expected to grow as the heat continues). Government officials have urged citizens to take precautions while out in the heat:

While India bakes, flooding of biblical proportions ravage the US states of Texas and Oklahoma, a region that only a year ago was ravaged by a biblical drought! Record-breaking deluges brought up to 24 inches of rain in less than 24 hours to some areas, causing chaos, damage and death, with more rain in the forecast. The area also has had to contend with a nasty tornado outbreak:
A "freak" tornado hit the village of Acuña, Mexico, near to the Texas border. The ferocious twister uprooted trees, destroyed homes and businesses and left at least 13 dead, in a region of the world unaccustomed to such storms:
Also from Mexico this past week, a "sun halo" seen in the skies above Mexico City prompted uneasy jokes about the "end of the world" and created a social media frenzy, as the spectacle hovered over the largest city in the world. The following day, a sun halo was spotted over Los Angeles, California, prompting similar "jokes" and people speaking of the "end of days" and "signs in the sky" accompanied by nervous laughter, as the joke is all too real now:
Add [yet another] volcano to the seemingly never-ending list of erupting ones worldwide, after the Wolf Volcano in the Galapagos Island chain off the coast of Ecuador blew its top today, in spectacular fashion! This becomes the 42nd (I believe, but I have honestly lost count) to erupt this year! Yup, that's normal! This eruption is not receiving media coverage, but it is being reported among the scientific community: http://bit.ly/1SyNYZL
Not to forget, that strange earthquake reported near Las Vegas this past week. Odd place for a temblor, but then came rumors that the water level in nearby Lake Mead had dropped by as much as six feet overnight following the quake!
Needless to say, I will continue to update this blog as conditions warrant, and trust me, they will!
