Scores of parents seemingly forgot the spirit of the Easter holiday in Sacramento, California, when an egg hunt for the little kiddies on Saturday turned into a chaotic free-for-all!
Non-profit group Blue Heart organized the Easter egg hunt for area parents as a way to help raise awareness for their cause of human trafficking around the world. Thousands of children and their parents gathered on the grounds of the state Capitol building, where over 500,000 plastic eggs filled with sweet goodies had been concealed for the enjoyment of the kids.
Things quickly devolved, however, according to witnesses. Some of the parents rushed the field at the start of the hunt, greedily grabbing at eggs for their kids and pushing other parents and children in the process. Others claim that some of the parents even shouted and cursed at other children for being in the way. What was supposed to have been a pleasant, family-friendly event became yet another advertisement of how self-absorbed, entitled and out-of-touch with reality today's generation has become.
Many parents fled the scene with their crying children in tow, realizing that the situation had become ugly and precarious. The event organizers were hoping to break a world record as the largest Easter egg hunt in the world, which did not occur, but it did have the largest count of eggs on record, and perhaps the largest amount of crying, disappointed children and oblivious, over-bearing parents as well.
